The park, which was completed on October 31, 2007, includes a 900-square-foot, multi-level observation deck overlooking the Grand River, a barrier-free prefabricated restroom building, new vehicle and bus parking areas, a stairway connects upper and mid-plateaus, picnic areas and site furnishings, new landscaping and native grass plantings on hillside, drainage improvements, according to the West Michigan Strategic Alliance which assisted Ionia County in obtaining a $144,700 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant.

Located just east of Lyons, the scenic overlook is said to have been a battle site where Lyons – Muir Native Americans defeated the Lansing Chippewa tribes.
